It’s a truly spooky thought: taking your boat in for maintenance and finding out you need more than $300,000 in extra repairs! That’s what happened to the 82-year-old SS John W Brown when it went to drydock in Norfolk this summer.
The nonprofit that owns the 442-foot World War II ship is launching a haunted ship experience, open to the public, to raise funds for the repairs. With its floating haunted house, Project Liberty Ship hopes to attract tourists from all parts of the mid-Atlantic region. Capt. Bobby LaPin gives us a sneak peek before it opens:
