Boat of the Week: Ranger Tugs 29 Trawler Yacht

This ambitious trawler is ready for your next adventure.

Imagine where you could cruise with a trawler that’s trailerable. Ranger Tugs builds a trailerable trawler at their plant in Auburn, Washington. And this 29-foot boat would be ideal for the couple whose ambition is to explore all of the waters—not just on the Chesapeake Bay, but all up and down the East Coast. Heading to Florida for the winter? You can spend a week creeping down the Intracoastal Waterway, or hitch up the pickup and run down I-95 overnight.

This week’s brokerage boat of the week is No Name, a Ranger 29 built in 2022, offered by the Pocket Yacht Company in Grasonville, Maryland. This is the Command Bridge model, with a mast that folds down for trailering or squeaking under low bridges. The command bridge features seating for four and a full suite of electronic controls including VHF, bow & stern thruster controls, Volvo engine controls, spotlight remote, lighted compass, and Garmin autopilot and navigation system.

Teak steps lead from the bridge down to the aft cockpit area, where a  unique reversible “Sunset Seat” spans the transom. You can face aft to watch a sunset, or face forward to join the conversation in the cockpit with its port and starboard jump seats and a teak table. Side walkways provide stable, safe access to the bow.

No Name is Ranger Tug’s Luxury Edition, meaning that it’s equipped with air conditioning/reverse cycle heating and diesel generator with a sound shield. There are just 1.4 hours logged on the generator.

The boat features a distinctive curved windshield and an overhead glass atrium that provides exceptional visibility from the lower helm station and saloon. No Name has a forward cabin with an island berth and an enclosed head and shower. Guests stay in a comfortable berth tucked under the dinette, which also converts to a double berth for extra guests.

The single Volvo Penta D4 320 HP Turbo Diesel has logged just 106 hours. It can provide a max speed of 20 knots and an economical cruising speed of 14 knots. It sits low in the hull, underneath the cockpit, providing exceptional stability for a boat with a flybridge. Standard stern and bow thrusters with wireless remote make docking a breeze.

No Name includes a number of options: an aft steering station, a Bimini top on the flybridge, carpeting for both main saloon and cockpit, and a custom aluminum Load Rite trailer. As a brokerage boat, it’s valued at about $60,000 less than a new boat, but the price is the only difference.
