The president of a major Bay-region yacht dealer and brokerage has passed away from cancer.
Jan Boone, president of Bluewater Yacht Sales, passed peacefully at her New Bern, North Carolina home on May 29th, at age 57, according to her family.
Boone spent 25 years in marketing and sales at Hatteras Yachts before taking the helm of Jarrett Bay, helping direct its merger with Bluewater Yacht Sales in 2012, where she went on to be president for 12 years.
Bluewater has ten East Coast sales centers, including five around the Bay: Baltimore, Grasonville and Ocean City on the Eastern Shore, Virginia Beach and Hampton in Virginia.
The company says Jan fought a long battle with colon cancer, but continued to lead Bluewater Yacht Sales throughout her treatments.
A statement from Bluewater Yacht Sales reads:
“This devastating loss to her family, friends & co-workers has jolted the close-knit boating industry at-large. As condolences pour in from around the world, it is readily apparent how many people Jan moved with her commitment to excellence and genuine friendships.”
Boone leaves behind her husband Jerome and her daughter Lauren.
