Waterfront Wine Tasting in Yorktown

Wines from Virginia’s popular wineries, and from all over the world, will be flowing at the Yorktown Wine Festival.

The festival takes place Saturday, October 6 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown. Wine-tasters will get a great view of the Coleman Bridge and the Schooner Alliance on the York River as they sip.

The Yorktown Wine Festival’s tag line is “The Best of Virginia and Beyond,” and indeed, there will be a dozen Virginia wineries and cideries participating. But it will also include wines from Germany (Riesling) and France (sparkling wines), in a nod to Yorktown’s sister cities of Zweibrücken and Port-Vendres.

Because not everybody is into wine, the event has expanded to offer a beer selection, too. For the first time, an admission ticket to the festival includes entry to a local craft beer garden featuring beer form three local breweries, hard lemonade, and cider. Food trucks and vendors will offer a variety of things to eat, and local artists will also have items for sale. Live entertainment runs throughout the day.

The wine festival benefits the York Foundation for Public Education and the Victory YMCA. It’s sponsored by Village Events Ltd. Tickets are $40 in advance and $35 at the festival gates. For festival information and to buy tickets online, click here.
