Four Rescued from Boat in Herring Bay

The Coast Guard and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department rescued four people on a boat in Herring Bay late Friday night.

Someone on the boat called the Coast Guard via cell phone, reporting the vessel was taking on water. USCG sent two boat crews from Coast Guard Station Annapolis to help.

Crew members transferred the people on board, dewatered the boat, and towed it to Herrington Harbor North marina on Herring Bay. The Anne Arundel fire boat rescued the other two people.

“We’d like to thank the Anne Arundel Fire Department for supporting this case so quickly,” said Ensign Clayton Harts, USCG command duty officer. “Our relationships with local state and federal partners help us to save lives and make the Mid-Atlantic waters safer for everyone.”
