Yorktown Trolley Up and Running at Historic Waterfront

Forget Uber—take the trolley to and from the Yorktown waterfront this spring.

The free Yorktown Trolley returns this Friday, March 22. It aims to eliminate the hassle of finding parking close to the waterfront, especially during peak tourist season. It’s also a good land-transportation option for those who come to Yorktown by boat.

The 20-25 minute long route begins at the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center with stops at the Victory Monument, Historic Main Street, Riverwalk Landing, Watermen’s Museum, and others, and ends at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Trolley drivers serve as tour guides, offering information to visitors at each stop.

From March 22 until May 23, the trolley will run daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., then summer hours will extend to daily service from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., reducing back to 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in early September.

After a successful pilot program last year, the trolley will also extend service into the evening during Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer concerts, which happen at the waterfront on Thursday nights in June, July and August.

The trolley transports an estimated 90,000 passengers through Yorktown each season. For more information, click here.
