The Vice-President of Marketing for powerboat maker Grady-White is being honored with the nation's top award for women in manufacturing.

Shelley Tubaugh, mom to two daughters, will receive a STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award from the Manufacturing Institute on April 10 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Tubaugh started with Grady-White in 1988 and has climbed from Customer Service Administrator to Marketing VP in her 30 years with the boat manufacturer. Today Tubaugh is responsible for the first Grady-White retail website, the first business-to-business website, the first online warranty submission portal, the first dealer standards reporting system and countless other innovations.

Says Tubaugh, â€śManufacturing offers women and men a great level playing field in which to excel. The collaborative nature of the manufacturing environment itself brings out the very best in all."

The STEP Ahead Initiative started in 2012 as a way to highlight the achievements of real women in manufacturing, "close the skills and gender gap," and inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in manufacturing.

This is the second year in a row that a Grady-White executive has been recognized in the STEP Ahead Awards for their role in manufacturing.
