VIDEO: First Look Inside Warship to be Commissioned in Annapolis

The soon-to-be-named USS Sioux City let down her gangplank on Thursday, allowing reporters to give us all a look inside the shiny new combat ship. She’s docked at the Naval Academy seawall in Annapolis until she is commissioned in a patriotic ceremony on Saturday.

Bay Bulletin is among the first to step on board for a tour. We talk to Lieutenant Junior Grade Amaia Maldonado, just 25 years old, and one of three crew members who can take the ship’s controls. She explains what’s so special about the Littoral Combat Ship.
