Baltimore County Mourns Loss of Marina Owner

Raymond "Butch" Porter, Sr. 

Mr. Raymond "Butch" Porter, Sr. of Porter's Seneca Marina passed away Monday. 

Porter's Seneca is at the mouth of Seneca Creek near Middle River.

Porter and his wife, Sheila, have owned the marina, which specializes in servicing Mercury and Mercruiser engines, since 1979. Their son, Ray Porter, Jr., manages the marina today.

Porter, Sr. was a prominent member of the local marine industry. Most recently he served as vice president of the Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County (MTABC).

A statement from the MTABC reads, "It is with profound sadness that I report the passing of Raymond Porter June 5, 2017, at 7:30 AM.
Please keep Raymond and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

Porter leaves behind his wife, a sister, his two children and their spouses, and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are as follows:

"Visiting at the Lassahn Funeral Home,Inc. in Overlea, 7401 Belair Rd. on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Saturday, June 17,2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment Holly Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Research Foundation."
