The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels is offering an opportunity for young teens to come in and craft holiday gifts...for free!

The two-day holiday gift-making workshops are hosted by the museum's Rising Tide After-School Boatbuilding Program. They take place between Thanksgiving and winter breaks, on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dates are set for November 27 and 29, December 4 and 6, December 11 and 13, and December 18 and 20.

The projects include possible holiday gifts like a cutting board or a decorative light. They're best-suited for students from sixth grade to tenth grade. Interested students should pre-register by emailing risingtide@cbmm.org, or by clicking here.

The Rising Tide After-School Boatbuilding Program offers other workshops and events through the year, including model-making, canvas building and painting. The program teaches basic boatbuilding skills with a goal to give students self-confidence and pride. Students gain skills in math, engineering, team building, and project management.
