It's that time of year again, when the Annapolis Boat Shows descend on City Dock, and boating enthusiasts from all over come to try, buy, or just dream.

This year, the nation's largest in-water boat shows are rallying around the Caribbean islands, where people and boaters have been rocked by a nightmare hurricane season.

The Annapolis Boat Shows have launched the "Hands Across the Transom" fundraising campaign. They're encouraging everyone to donate to a participating hurricane relief organization. All donors who give $75 or more will get a free invitation to the Hurricane Relief Party on Thursday, October 5th—Opening Day of the United States Sailboat Show.

Annapolis Boat Shows itself is pledging $5,000 to the cause, and urges others to show how compassionate the marine industry and its boating customers are.

Hands Across the Transom will also have "Soggy Dollars for Hurricane Relief" donation boxes set up around the United States Sailboat and Powerboat Shows.

The hurricane relief organizations participating in the Hands Across the Transom effort include Virgin BVI Community Appeal, Pusser's Hurricane Relief Fund, BVI Recovery Fund, Virgin Gorda & Bitter End Yacht Club Staff Irma Relief Fund, and Sister Season Fund.
